Donault Logan, 18, was the boyfriend of 17-year-old Mia Holmes, who was shot and killed in August at the Ankeny extended-stay hotel where the couple was living. He turned himself in at the Polk County Jail in late August.
Logan is charged with involuntary manslaughter, a class D felony, as well as nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy, fraudulent purchase of a firearm/ammunition, sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of a controlled substance and failure to affix drug stamp.

Holmes' mother, Rhianna Ortega, said in September that she believed the shooting was an accident and thinks of Logan as her son-in-law. Logan and Holmes had been dating for two years and, with a baby on the way, were preparing for life as a family of three.
